About
King Pegasa was the ambitious leader of the meagles--a group of nomadic, four-legged birds. He stopped at nothing to pursue his goals, even if it meant betraying his ideals and all of the creatures he once held dear to his heart.
"Pegasa, you are in an abyss of misdeeds. You could’ve been the greatest star in the sky had you not fallen into the abyss of misery..."
(Quartz about Pegasa, Adventures of Loftia: A Fallen Star)
Fun Facts & More Information
Pegasa was the main antagonist in book 2, Loftia Legends: The Hidden Enemy. Through the course of the novel, it is revealed that Pegasa was the reason for the extinction of the shiftlings.
He and his followers used their weapons--magical, green-flamed daggers--to decimate the entirety of Willow Island in a desperate attempt to gain land. After realizing his choice would lead to his kind's scorn for centuries, he abandoned the island, forcing all of his subjects to swear never to speak of what had happened that night.
He appears in a brief segment in book 3 and is one of the members of the antagonistic alliance in book 4.
In the never-printed prequel story, Pegasa's story was expanded on.
Centuries before the events of book 2, Pegasa was friends with a shifting named Starsong, who fed him information on the state of Willow Island. Pegasa used this information to plan his attack on the shiftling empire. He was also friends with a fellow meagle named Quartz, who he bonded with after he lost his eye to a violent storm.
Some Fun Facts:
The species of meagles was inspired by real-life migrational birds, which I learned about in 7th grade.
The first drawing of King Pegasa featured the green magical flames, and the majority of my current drawings of him also include them.
Pegasa was my favorite villain in the book series.
I wrote a spinoff prequel with Pegasa as the main character, which is the longest story I've ever completed (clocking in at around 75,000 words).
I came up with Pegasa's name by playing around with Google Translate.
